Which areas are open?
The entire indoor area of the Thermal Spa, the Meditarium, the Oceanum, the Carolus Spa, the Baltic Sauna World and the Sauna Garden are open.
Is there a discount
since not all areas are accessible?
There is currently a 20% discount on all entrance prices for the Carolus Thermen.
This discount cannot be combined with other discount vouchers and/or price reductions. However, the discount that is most advantageous for you will be granted (e.g. sports day discount, student rate). With the Thermen Cards a combination of discounts is, however, possible.
To illustrate, here’s an example:
14.00 € – Entrance fee for a 3.5 hour stay (without sauna) on a weekday.
11.20 € – 20% discount flat.
7.84 € – Further 30% discount with Thermen Card Karl.
What rules apply to the Carolus Thermen?
Admission to Carolus Thermen is according to the 2G+ rules: vaccinated, recovered and with a rapid antigen test not older than 24 hours.
Visitors who can prove a booster vaccination do not need an additional antigen rapid test
(Applies from Thursday, 13.1.2022)
For the protection of all guests and staff, we will only allow access to guests who can provide one of the following officially recognized proofs:
> complete vaccination at least 2 weeks ago
> previous corona infection at least 28 days and maximum 6 months ago
+ negative antigen rapid test not older than 24 hours or proof of booster vaccination (“booster”)
All proofs are only valid in connection with a valid photo ID. This must be presented at all times.
This rule applies to all visitors older than 15 years.
Children aged 6 to 15, who are not students at a German school, may only enter with an antigen test not older than 24 hours.
On-site supervised self-tests, which can substitute for a rapid test from an official testing center, are not conducted at Carolus Thermen.
Do I have to wear a mask?
You must wear a medical mouth and nose protection in the entrance area, on all paths and in our restaurants up to your seat. In the swimming pools, the saunas, and generally speaking, as soon as you settle down (loungers, relaxation room), you are allowed to remove the mask.
I forgot my mask, now what?
If you have not brought your own mouth-nose covering, we will be happy to provide you with a disposable medical mask free of charge in the entrance area.
Is data collection/contact tracking necessary?
No personal information is collected from our guests for contact tracking purposes.
How long are vouchers valid?
Multi-purpose vouchers are valid for three years from 31.12. of the year in which they were purchased. They can be used to pay for all services at the Carolus Thermen.
Gradual redemption for multiple visits is possible, but refunds are excluded.

My voucher expired during the Covid 19 closure period. Is it still valid?
All vouchers issued by us that expired during the closure period (18/03/20 to 01/11/21) will be extended until at least 31/03/2023.
Can voucher orders be cancelled?

Do massages and other spa treatments need to be reserved?
We recommend booking massages and other spa treatments prior to your visit via our new Spa Booking: https://spa.carolus-thermen.de/
You can also ask at the spa reception, if there is an appointment available for the desired massage or treatment for the period of your planned stay.
At the reception desk in the entrance hall, the staff cannot see whether appointments are available in the spa.
What happens, if I am late for a booked appointment?
The application booked by you is a binding commitment for us. Of course, it can happen that reasons arise that lead to a cancellation or rescheduling of the booked time. We accept cancellations free of charge up to 24 hours, before the start of the appointment. Appointments cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will be charged at 50%, appointments not cancelled will be charged at 100%.
Send us your revocation/cancellation by e-mail to email@example.com.
We ask for your understanding as the staff and the treatment rooms are kept ready for you.
What do I need to bring for a smooth stay?
If you would like to bathe in our thermal world, you will need suitable swimwear, shower gel, at least one towel and bathing slippers are also recommended.
Should you visit our sauna area, then we recommend two towels as large as possible – one to lay underneath during the sauna sessions, one to dry off after the shower. In addition, a cosy bathrobe, in which you can snuggle up while having a rest.
You are perfectly dressed for your spa visit with a large towel or bathrobe.
If you do not bring large towels or a bathrobe, you can borrow these items from our Carolus Shop daily between 9:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. for a fee.
Can I bring infants and toddlers?
As our pools are filled with very mineral-rich thermal water, the minerals would penetrate the body of small children through their thin skin much faster and more intensively than in the case of adults. Doctors therefore advise not to let small children bathe in such mineral-rich thermal water.
For the protection of children, we therefore only allow them to be guests of the Carolus Thermen from the age of six.
Children/youngsters between the ages of 6 and 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Is the entrance also possible for a pregnant person?
Pregnant women are very welcome at the Carolus Thermen. However, please note that every pregnant woman can react differently to a visit of the thermal baths (thermal bath, sauna world & Carolus Spa). Therefore we recommend a short consultation with your doctor.
Is the access to the Carolus Thermen barrier-free?
Of course, almost all areas of the Carolus Thermen are also accessible to people with walking disabilities. Elevators guarantee accessibility to the various levels, two handicapped accessible dressing rooms allow safe and comfortable changing and a lift in the bathing hall allows easy access to the large thermal water pool.
